Lotería Boxes

Decorate a keepsake box with images from Lotería and found objects.

Skeleton Marionettes
Saturday, October 11, 2008, 10am–12pm 
Make a funky skeleton marionette! Take some air-dry clay, a little bit of fabric, add some string and soon your skeleton will be ready to party for Día de los Muertos.

Mini Altars

Come create your own small, personalized altar using traditional colors and symbolism of Day of the Dead. Please bring photos and small personal objects and we will provide all the fun decorating materials.

“Stain Glass” Mosaics 
Saturday, December 13, 2008, 10am–12pm Create a colorful “stained glass” image of Our Lady of Guadalupe. We will use torn tissue paper as our “glass” and work with colorful mosaic pieces for added interest.

Clay Creatures 
Saturdays, 10–11:30am 
September 13, 20 & 27 Using their imaginations students will create amazing creatures big and small out of clay. Basic clay sculpture and hand building will be the main focus. Students will also learn basic glazing techniques to bring their creations to life!
Ages 5 – 9

Mixed Up Media
Saturdays, 1–3pm
September 13, 20, & 27  
This class is for the advanced student who has the desire to perfect and master the potter’s wheel. The student will learn techniques on the potter’s wheel and create functional pieces. Demonstrations and hands on experience will guide you on your way.
Ages 12 – 16

Holiday Gift Making Workshop

Kachinas 
Saturday, September 13, 2008, 1:30–3:30pm 
The Hopi and Pueblo peoples of the Southwest use Kachinas as teaching tools for youth. These figures teach valuable lessons about nature, the spirit, and everyday life. Come and create a figure based on one of the many traditional characters or create your own representation.

Folk Art Figures 

Saturday, December 13, 2008, 1:30–3:30pm 
In Oaxaca artisans create wonderful figures of animals and people from clay and wood. These figures are brightly painted and patterned. Come and create your own figure from scrap wood and let your imagination run wild!
