Indian Inspired Bags

Create a decorative bag or wall hanging inspired by pieces from the Hand-in-Hand Folk Art Collection. Class includes discussion of the use of mirrored embroidery in India, demonstration of various embroidery stitches and all the materials you need for your creation.

Come and be inspired by Carnival! Have fun creating fancy headdresses at Mattie Rhodes Art Gallery. Then head down to the Baila dance studio to learn basic samba techniques. Come dressed in comfortable clothing and tennis shoes.

Mexican Blouses

Peasant blouses have made their way in and out of fashion over the years. Many have drawn inspiration from the embroidered huipiles from Mexico. We will make our own blouse based on the colorful ones worn in the state of Michoacán. Class includes discussion of weaving and embroidery in Mexico, fabric and sewing instructions, materials and demonstration of crosstitching.
