Art Camp
Now in its eleventh year, Mattie Rhodes Summer Art Camp continues to expand its creative and educational opportunities for Kansas City children. Five one-week sessions are offered each summer, covering five areas of art instruction including ceramics, fiber/craft, cultural art, mixed media and printmaking. Camps are 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday - Friday.
Summer Art Camp participants are encouraged to celebrate diversity through the arts, as well as to explore the traditions of other cultures. Instructors use a variety of teaching methods to stimulate imaginations while continuously cultivating creative expression, confidence, self-discovery and respect for others. Some of the activities planned for this summer include making clay creatures, self portraits, collages, batik banners and tie-dye T-shirts.
